The information presented in this course will focus on the 25 plus techniques this instructor found most useful in her 30 plus years of practice. Video will be incorporated and audience participation encouraged. Topics will include oral-motor assessment and treatment, feeding and swallowing, praxis, motor learning, sensory awareness, sensory motor integration, metaphoric learning, and the animal-human connection.

Objectives: Participants will be able to
- Discuss the requirement of an excellent observational skill set.
- List 5 need areas with related goals for specific clients within set parameters.
- Identify at least 5 incorporation methods.
- Describe how the one body system is able to impact the oral system and speech production.
- List at least 10 treatment strategies that can be incorporated into each treatment session.
- Describe how to implement at least 10 treatment strategies into their own practice.
- Discuss how to investigate hundreds of oral system treatment methods.

Judy Michels Jelm is a speech-language Pathologist with over 35 years of experience. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois – Champaign in 1976. She is past president of the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Neuro-Developmental Association (NDTA Inc.). She has also been honored as therapist emeritus of the speech group of the NDTA. Her main areas of interest have been oral-motor/sensory concerns, oral sensory issues, whole system interaction, sensory integration, articulation and communication. Everything continues to amaze her. She was owner of Pediatric Speech and Language Therapy Services. Judy has written The Oral Motor/Feeding Rating Scale, and The Verbal Dyspraxia Profile (Janelle). She has also written numerous articles and chapters.
Judy also continues with enhanced foal training at the Royal Lusitano Center for Healing Arts in St. Charles, IL. She has spoken at over 100 invited presentations throughout North America.
